As The Calendar Turns —The Journey Continues!

On this last day of 2011 it’s a wonderful feeling to look back over the year and see just what TWB has accomplished over the past 365 days. We got the official TWB logo designed, tee-shirts manufactured, our website up and running, gave out 16 soccer balls in Nicaragua and Costa Rica and produced a short video about the experience, established a regular blog and began adding members to the TWB tribe. Jeff Knoche, a Peace Corps volunteer, handed out a ball in Albania. Cathryn Brompton from Novato, California, distributed a ball in Brazil. Bill & Myrna Hant of Los Angeles gave away two balls in India. It was a good year….
But we’re more interested in looking towards the future! On the very first day of 2012 we will host the world premiere of the TWB video that filmmaker and TWB co-founder Starr Hathaway produced about our Central American journey. The film will screen on our Travel With Balls Facebook page at 10 a.m. Please join us and invite your friends and family to do the same — there’s no better way to begin the New Year than with a bit of joy and uplift! (And please hit the”Like” button on the FB page afterwards so that we can grow the TWB tribe.)
On January 7th we’ll be attending a travel club meeting and spreading the TWB gospel among 50 or so hard-core world travelers — our perfect target audience! The last weekend of January we’ll dress up in our TWB t-shirts, print up our TWB promotional materials and hit the LA Convention Center for the Travel Expo so that we can inform both travel vendors and attendees about TWB. We’re confident that people will be receptive to our message — what’s not to love about it?!
As for our own travels in 2012? We don’t have anything in the works yet, although William raided Borders shortly before their closing and brought home an armful of heavily discounted Lonely Planet Guidebooks. Tasmania, Cyprus, Zambia, Malawi, Eritrea, Ethiopia — the titles are taunting, teasing us and I know it’s only a matter of time before we succumb to their charms….
